Portland Maine Market Report

Home Sales Statistics & Results -  Monthly Update

Portland, Maine’s largest market for both single family homes and condos, has experienced high consumer demand, but sales have been restricted by low inventory levels for approximately the last two years.  Total volume was down 8.1% in 2020 vs 2019, following several years of growth.  Unit sales reached a high of 629 units in 2016, far and away the strongest sales year of the past decade or more.

Median selling prices have appreciated steadily for the past ten years, reaching an all-time high in 2020 at $362,000.

The charts below include up-to-date 2021 monthly sales and a review of results for both single family homes and condos for the prior year. 

Portland Homes

Condominiums and townhomes historically represent between 35 - 40 percent of all residential sales in Portland.  Prices range dramatically between high-rise waterfront properties and in-town smaller complexes and multi-units.
